Progenitor Frigate Pylon Configuration Concepts

Just some doodles of the three 'major' possible configurations for Progenitor ships; the ship depicted here is a frigate design I'm working on; the Progenitor ships aren't built to be pretty, but they're generally pretty damn slimlined vessels. Progenitor ships are the most technologically advanced vessels in the galaxy, bar Androni ships. They commonly use a form of suspended magnetic animation to hold their massive pylons above their hull, as if they were levitating via antigravity. This type of magnetic suspension is something we're capable of doing nowadays, but the example shown in this form are much more highly advanced applications of it, and imply that the Progenitor have their own ways to put this phenomenon into effect as a permanent way to hold these things in place.


The Hyperspace Configuration reconfigures the pylons in such a way that the frontal ones are in the best position to easily extend out for rapid combat engagement, while the rear pylons allow the hyperdrive to draw its power from them, and in turn from the solar winds, without having to use the onboard reactor of the ship.

The Combat Configuration reconfigures the pylons to allow the frontal ones to generate a massive 'beam' of energy of sorts, converging with the middle of the ship. This beam of energy allows the vessel to project out impressive amounts of firepower on a single target, but really does interfere with the power reserves of the ship's reactor and pylons. The weapons of the ship in this mode, draw power from the rear pylons, and then switch to drawing power from the main reactor should the pylons be unable to sustain them.

Finally, the pursuit configuration reconfigures the pylons, and allows the ship the most aerodynamic model possible for this design, allowing it to engage targets within atmosphere at high-speeds with impunity. However, all weapons are locked to the frontal hull during this configuration, to prevent the high-speeds damaging or destroying them.
